Whats on at The Sound Society South Bank Parklands

Ease into the weekend with scrumptious eats and free live music at The Sound Society, South Bank Parklands.

Fresh to the Brisbane scene, The Sound Society is a unique music experience – forget cramped venues and pushy crowds! Instead, be recharged and soul-soothed amid mother nature’s sun-dappled trees, sweeping grounds and gently-chirping birdlife. The Sound Society’s relaxed vibe and central location make it perfect for a solo outing, a chill date or a group gathering.

Food is also very welcome here – bring your own picnic or grab a bite to eat from one of the onsite food vendors. Main Street Market will be serving German sausages, thirst-quenching iced teas and doughnuts. Tippler’s Tap is offering a menu including hot dogs, sandwiches and Tippler’s classics such as wings, fries, crumbed mushrooms and onion rings as well as a variety of soft drinks and delicious mocktails. 

The Sound Society is held at South Bank Parklands on the first Saturday of each month from 2-7pm at Rainforest Green – entry is free, check out the program below. If you’re more of the morning kind or you simply need a double tranquillity-hit, it’s also on at Roma Street Parkland for Sunday brunch.

Dave Orr Band: 4.45pm – 7pm

A fixture of the Brisbane music scene over the past decade, at the heart of Dave Orr's music is unmistakably raw blues guitar.

Hailey Calvert: 2pm – 4.15pm

Hailey Calvert’s breathtaking strong vocals, folk/blues writing style and charismatic shows make her an artist not to be missed.

My Nightingale: 4.45pm – 7pm

Brisbane based, indie-folk band. Soul-soothing tunes with luscious vocal harmonies, layers of beautiful strings, and groovy folk rhythms.

Pat Tierney (solo): 2pm – 4.15pm

Pat blends his love of slide guitar with harmonica and rhythmic acoustic guitar to create a sound that continues to grow and reach to the far ends of the globe.

Fresco Kyoto: 4.45pm – 7pm

Centred around the evocative voice of Robbie Balmer – one of Brisbane’s most gifted young singers, Fresco Kyoto has a diverse sound, brooding and melodic.

Shag Rock (duo): 2pm – 4.15pm

Salty-faced and Brisbane-based, surf rockers Shag Rock perform summery tunes with a feel-good vibe.

Electrik Lemonade: 4.45pm – 7pm

Electrik Lemonade plays a repertoire of funk, hip hop, blues, soul and dance music delivered in a whirlwind of explosive energy.

Dakota Striplin: 2pm – 4.15pm

Dakota Striplin is a local singer/songwriter performing easy going acoustic music entertaining local and international audiences.

LS Philosophy: 4.45pm – 7pm

LS Philosophy is a high energy, groove based band with elements of funk, rock and acid jazz.

Tailor Birds: 2pm – 4.15pm

The Tailor Birds sound is electric violin at its' core, world folk at its' finest, and music at its’ most raw.  

Andrea Kirwin: 4.45pm – 7pm

Andrea Kirwin's music is an earthy blend of hip hop, funk and soul with an island style roll, smooth honey vocals over chilled beats.
