Champagne and hot chips in Brisbane City

We've planned the perfect girls night itinerary that combines our two loves—champagne and chips. Fri-nally! Invite your gals to celebrate Global Champagne Day on October 18 and tackle this hot chips safari with bubbles breaks at some of our favourite bars. From truffle fries to chip tasting boards and cork-popping champagne lists – dress up and get out there.

First up, hot chips.

Santa Monica

Santa Monica

Santa Monica has a menu dedicated just to fries – need we say more? Eat your way through one or three servings of the sweet potato, cheese and bacon, and pulled pork fries. As your hot chip adventure advisors, we recommend the pulled pork fries topped with cheddar, sour cream and spring onions.

Red Hook

Red Hook offers all kinds of NYC-inspired chips. Our favourite from this little Brooklyn-style eatery is the waffle fries. Imagine the perfect balance of crispiness and potato woven into waffles. These salty treats are made that much better with the accompanying smoky mayo. To branch out on your hot chip adventure (come on, we know you want to) try Red Hook’s bacon and cheese fries and the chilli cheese and brisket fries.

Pair these hot chips with a glass of Prosecco to really bring out the flavour of these crispy potato treats.

Sparrow & Finch

They're known for delicious wraps and healthy salads, but did you know Sparrow & Finch also do epic thick-cut crunchy chips? That makes this a necessary stop on the hot chips safari. Savour the salty potato-ness of these classics with mayo and tomato. After your first hot chip stop at Red Hook make your way down Gresham Lane and drop into this favourite haunt.

Comuna Cantina

Comuna Cantina

Can’t decide on what chips to have? Comuna Cantina offers the best of both worlds – hot chips and corn chips. The chips tasting board features a selection of potato chips, sweet potato chips, corn chips and halloumi chips. Do them justice and enjoy with a prosecco in hand.

Corbett & Claude

Corbett Claude

Located along Elizabeth Street, Corbett & Claude have reinvented the humble hot chip to create the best thing ever: halloumi chips. Appreciate the crispy batter surrounding delicious halloumi cheese and dip these bad boys into the accompanying aioli. Bliss. Or go for gourmet chips and try Corbett & Claude’s truffle fries.

Fish 'n' Chippery

Dog-friendly fish ‘n’ chips by the riverfront? Sign us up. Located in Howard Smith Wharves by the Felons Lawn at the back on the brewery, bring a picnic rug and kick back with takeaway drinks and a serving of traditional fries, hand-cut hot chips or even potato scallops.

Next, bring the champagne!

Sixteen Antlers

Sixteen Antlers

Located on the top level of the Pullman and Mercure Brisbane, Sixteen Antlers is the perfect place to take a break from your hot chip safari. Peer out over Brisbane City Hall, King George Square and the CBD from this central sky-high bar located on the 16th floor. Grab a cushioned area for your friends and enjoy a glass of champagne overlooking the city skyline.

OTTO Ristorante

OTTO Brisbane

For a gourmet addition to your hot chip adventure, OTTO Ristorante is a must-do. OTTO is famous for both its riverside views and an epic wine list. Sip on champagne and crunch on roasted baby potatoes with rosemary and thyme. If you’re wanting to splurge, look no further than Charles Heidsieck Brut. This French champagne delivers notes of complexity and richness, a perfect match for a salty chip safari.

Silver Fox Wine Bar

Silver Fox Wine Bar

For a nightcap look no further than Silver Fox Wine Bar. Tucked away at the end of Edward Street. The Silver Fox offers an extensive wine list with a range of locally sourced champagne and international flavours.

If you want to finish with a bang, Silver Fox's Appreciation Master Class is a must. Enjoy a Champagne tasting with personally selected bubbles by Silver Fox's Sommelier, Derek Golledge. Tastings are $50pp (with a minimum of 10 attendees) with an accompanying cheese platter to suit the selected champagne. To request your tasting, email Silver Fox.

River Bar & Kitchen

Riverbar

Brisbane’s Eagle Street Pier is always a winner, so take the girls and wander down to River Bar & Kitchen for a drink. Our choice of champagne is the Ruinart Blanc de Blancs. Enjoy that river view with a glass of champagne in one hand and crispy sweet potato wedges in the other.

Simone Perele Fashion Parade

Celebrate Global Champagne Day on October 18 at the Simone Perele Fashion Parade at David Jones Queens Plaza. Fawn over the latest Spring/Summer styles while enjoying canapes and a glass of Champagne. You'll also get 30% on the day and a gift with purchase. Did we mention it's free!?

Lennon’s Pool Terrace and Bar

Lennons Pool Terrace & Bar, NEXT Hotel

Champagne by the pool – is there anything more Brisbane than that? Lennon’s Pool Terrace and Bar at the Next Hotel delivers the goods with an infinity pool, champagne cocktails and salty fries to share. Sip champagne with your friends while you overlook the sparkling pool and down to Queen Street Mall.

Boom Boom Room

An opulent setting within a heritage-listed buildings' old bank vaults – sounds like the perfect place to sparkle with sparkling. No need to lift a finger (except to tap along to the jazz, soul and blues tunes filling the air) as the venue offers bottle service.

Cuvée Lounge Bar

Cuvée offers vintage and non-vintage labels from a selection of the greatest champagne houses in the world. By night, this bar becomes full of subtle lighting, allowing you to fully appreciate the breathtaking view of Brisbane City.

Mr Percival’s

Shoestring fries, a bottle of sparkling and tin of caviar please! This overwater bar is better known for its fresh seafood, great views and refreshing cocktails – so just add a lobster roll to your chips order. The house aioli is so good.

By Brittany Mohr

Brittany’s ultimate weekend involves wine (rosé) and cheese (manchego) at La Lune, seeing a live show and going for a wander along the Brisbane River. Passionate about the leafy Western suburbs, she’s a lady of fine tastes so naturally her best kept secret is #treatingyo'self to a session at luxe day spa One Wybelenna. Bliss.
