Mayowa's Father's Day Gift Guide

Father's Day can be a tough time in the gifting department. Beyond the traditional gifts of socks and underwear, it’s a commonly accepted idea that Dads tend to miss out on some cool presents each year. But seriously, what do you get the man who always says, “Don’t get me anything…”?

To help make your gift-giving easier, here are a few options from some stellar Queen Street Mall retailers that are sure to give the father figure in your life something exciting to wake up to on their special day.

Starting with something we can all get around - coffee. While this might just be a staple for most of us, giving Dad exactly what he likes is a thoughtful way to show a) just how well you know him or b) you do actually listen to his spirited opinions (rants) about what makes a good morning brew. With Nespresso in Wintergarden, you’re guaranteed to do no wrong with a few sleeves of his favourites or a brand-new machine that brings out his inner barista.

Like socks and underwear, pyjamas can also get the “boring gift” tag. So, this is your chance to switch it up and get him into the best of loungewear. I'm talking a lightweight Peter Alexander dressing gown that he can really get wrapped up in while just kicking back (coffee in hand of course!)

Tip: Go one size up for max comfort and full over the couch draping.

But of course, what's loungewear without the appropriate footwear? A pair of Moc Toe Slippers from Florsheim in The Myer Centre is about as close as he’ll get to walking on clouds. Made from a 70% inner wool blend lining, these are perfect for getting around the house or keeping toes warm come next winter. From experience, I can also confirm that these slip-ons also perform just as stylishly outside the house.

Now it’s time to head out! If your Dad is anything like mine, he might be getting to that age where his headwear collection is becoming quite the fashion statement. So why not help him out here. Whether it’s a Panama hat for a weekend boat ride, a Brixton cap for the golf course or an Akubra for the out-of-town drive, Brisbane Hatters in Brisbane Arcade has become the local go-to for all options.

Tip: Get him a gift card and make an experience out of visiting the Brisbane Arcade store to make a selection together.

So hopefully, this little guide gives you a couple of ideas to work with. As always you can always find a gifting options for all the special men in your life and more in Queen Street Mall.
