The Boom Boom Room is a unique lounge bar offering avant-garde design and an elevated cocktail list. Originally known as the Queensland Government Insurance Building this heritage-listed building has recently been transformed into a hotel. The bar is located in the basement of 171 George St, where the building’s bank vaults once were. Located on the edge of Gresham Lane, The Gresham was originally a NAB building, constructed in 1881. The interior of the ambient bar reflects the original character of the building, with chesterfield couches, rich mahogany furniture, and historic photos on the walls.
The Gresham is also the only bar in Queensland to hold a Heritage Bar License, so even though it doesn’t offer happy hour, the location and drinks are so great you won’t notice. After 1905 the Treasury Building was sold to form Treasury Brisbane. Raise a glass to this bygone era of grand buildings at one of Treasury’s great bars’ Ryan’s on the Park, LiveWire and Centre Bar.

For a different sort of heritage and happy hour head to Elizabeth Picture Theatre. The heritage-listed building was originally built in 1879, and in 1919 was purchased by the Queensland Irish Association (QIA). Sip on a glass of Il Fiore Prosecco (our personal choice) and transport yourself to a different time with live piano on every Friday in the Presidents Room.

Built in 1906, Telecommunications House is a heritage-listed former clubhouse, often known as Corbett Chambers, located at 283 Elizabeth Street.
