November... already!? It's hard to believe the year is close to its end with 2020 just a handful of weeks away. Yikes! 

Not to get you prematurely excited about Christmas, but the end of this month is when festivities kick off in Brisbane City. There are three artisan and Indigenous markets popping up in the CBD, and festive cheer and Christmas shopping is but moments away. Add to that Black Friday sales, music in the Botanic Gardens and a dazzling festival at the Powerhouse.

Low Rotation Listening Party

29 November, 6-8pm, $10, Museum of Brisbane
Dedicated to the experimental at heart, the fervently underground and the shamefully overlooked, this listening party will be bringing together some of Brisbane’s best music enthusiasts to curate a playlist of music we probably don’t know but definitely should. Keep your ears perked and revisit the diversity of Brisbane’s underground music scenes across psy-trance, electro, experimental, punk and pop at the Museum of Brisbane. This event is in conjunction with the High Rotation exhibition currently on show.

Every stallholder at the BrisStyle Twilight Market is a local artisan or maker, so if you’re looking to shop small and support local this gift giving season then drop into this evening festa. Expect to find clothing, accessories, homewares and more here made here in Brisbane.

BNE Design Market

29 November, 4-9pm, Reddacliff Place
Another local design market popping up in the city in the lead up to Christmas? Buying gifts for family and friends will be a piece of cake this year. The Museum of Brisbane is holding this artisan market in Reddacliff Place for one Friday afternoon only. Head along to celebrate the talents and craftmanship of 25 local Brisbane designers and artisans. There will also be food trucks and live music to keep the party going.

Meeanjin Markets

22 & 23 November, 9am-9pm, Reddacliff Place
Celebrate Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander arts, craft and culture at this two-day market and mini festival. Meet and connect with local Indigenous artisans and musicians, participate in workshops and find one-of-a-kind Christmas gifts at the many market stalls.

Medibank Feel Good Program

September 30 - November 30
Brisbane’s favourite free outdoor fitness series are on again this spring! Over nine weeks get fit in the great outdoors in Queens Gardens (next to Treasury Casino) with these super special, totally free fitness classes. At 5.30pm on Tuesday and Thursday there is yoga, and Wednesday there is pilates. Just turn up! 

Wonderland Festival


21 November - 1 December, Brisbane Powerhouse
Kicking off with a giant 1960s swing party, this dazzling, sultry festival is sequin stuffed with more burlesque, circus, comedy and cabaret than you can poke a stick at. Over nine nights of decadence and debauchery you can spectate the weird and wonderful Wonderland Festival at Brisbane Powerhouse. It’s just a short bus or cab from the CBD.

Suitcase Rummage

3 & 17 November, 12-5pm, Reddacliff Place
Everything old is new again at the Suitcase Rummage. Twice a month this market sells vintage, clothing, bric-a-brac, artwork, books, jewellery, shoes, records, handmade goods and more in Brisbane Square. The concept is simple: each stall holder takes along a couple of suitcases with goods to sell – some sell handmade creations, others are clearing out their wardrobes. It’s a great place to pick up cheap second-hand fashion – bargaining, cloth swapping and haggling isn’t uncommon!
