Where to celebrate New Year's Eve in Brisbane City

As the year comes to an end, the countdown is on for New Year's Eve – and we think Brisbane City is the spot to be when the clock strikes midnight. Watch the decade tick over and see the NYE fireworks light up the sky along the Brisbane River from one of the many bars and restaurants throughout the CBD.

We've done the hard work and rounded up bar packages, restaurant sitting and other ideas for where to watch the fireworks. Here are our top picks on the best seats in Brisbane City for New Year's Eve to welcome 2020.

Picnics

Pack a picnic and blanket and soak up the atmosphere from the City Botanic Gardens, Kangaroo Point Cliffs, City Riverwalk or Howard Smith Wharves. Each location is perfectly positioned to offer you front row seats for the fireworks display, which will light up the sky above both bends of the river near the CBD. Howard Smith Wharves will also have food stalls so you can leave the picnic basket at home.

Restaurants & Bars

Choose from one of Brisbane City’s many riverside restaurants and bars at the Riverside Centre, Eagle Street Pier and Howard Smith Wharves for views of the Story Bridge or head to the Brisbane Quarter for river views overlooking South Bank.
