Best places to party and watch Riverfire in Brisbane City

The night sky is a blank canvas and Riverfire returns every September to paint it with light. Bigger than our New Year’s Eve, the spectacular fireworks event is a Brisbane favourite and fitting end to three huge weeks of Queensland’s largest arts and cultural event, Brisbane Festival. This year the pyrotechnic masterpiece will be set to an epic soundtrack celebrating 1989, the year the Riverstage opened. Fireworks will go off from multiple bridges, barges and city rooftops with bonus aerobatics from the Australian Defence Force. Arrive incredibly early to the waterfront if you wish to nab a key vantage point, or better yet – make a reservation at a riverside restaurant or bar.

Often the hardest part is finding that key spot to watch the fireworks, so we’ve done the work for you – read on to discover the venues around the CBD to Riverfire on Saturday 28 September.

Pack a picnic and blanket and soak up the atmosphere from the City Botanic Gardens, Kangaroo Point Cliffs, or City Riverwalk. Each location is perfectly positioned to offer you front row seats for the fireworks display.
