Weaving together intricate textural landscapes of melody and harmony. The 4-piece instrumental outfit sits in a space rarely occupied; not quite jazz and not quite classical, almost meditative and yet their grooves have strength. Keyboardist and songwriter, Oliver Hughes composes in a circular and colourful way, inspired by Erik Satie, Phillip Glass and GoGo Penguin. Multi-instrumentalist Haitch Azimself plays the muted trumpet and an assortment of stunning Native American flutes. Henry Roebuck on bass guitar and Brad Williams on drums provide a foundation of contemporary hip-hop inspired grooves. With their musical palate, Aubergine paints a sound which is interesting yet soothing to the ear. They are the newest member to the community of fine and diverse musicianship Brisbane offers. Aubergine is a band experienced in stage performances, film composition, art installations and collaborative performances.
